Can students make up credits or graduate sooner?

Yes, students can recapture or earn extra credits depending on how much time and effort they put into their classes.  Each full credit is composed of 15 lessons.  Each lesson requires approximately 8-10 hours of class time to complete. By working more than the minimum required, students should be able to complete extra classes if desired.  In addition, if students use their class time wisely, they should have little or no homework.

How do we apply?

First, phone our office to schedule an appointment with our director.  Both the child and the parent/s should attend the meeting.  Next, fill out the application forms and return them to the school.  Some of the records you will need are a transcript from the previous school, and a State of Florida health record of immunizations.  In most cases you will also be asked to provide a Psych-educational evaluation that is not more than 2 years old.  If your child has been enrolled in a wilderness or other therapeutic program, we will need their final evaluation.

Do the students earn a diploma?

Yes, our students all receive a college preparatory or general high school diploma depending on their course of study.  Students applying to a four-year college should earn the college preparatory diploma.  Those interested in a two-year college or vocational school will need a general high school diploma.  In nearly all cases, students who are not seeking our diploma will be able to transfer any credits earned at Palmetto Bay Academy to a traditional secondary school.
