ACADEMICS

1. BEGINNINGS

(1ST - 6TH)

PBA Beginnings is a program designed to educate bright and gifted youth who would benefit from the ability to advance academically, or in their area of giftedness (leadership, the arts, competitive athletics, etc.) while still having a supportive and nurturing age-appropriate school community.

Many families are unaware of the true understanding of giftedness and the unique challenges it poses. PBA Administration and Teachers are experts in this area. PBA has been home to Gifted, Bright but Struggling, and 2e students for 24 years. Our expansion into primary education is the result of years of careful planning and curriculum development to ensure that children can receive challenges in the areas in which they are gifted, but also receive support in the areas that they need additional help.

Our programming is designed to meet students where they are in all areas and understand the asynchronicity (difference between academic giftedness and emotional maturity) that is a cornerstone of the gifted experience.

We know the challenges bright, gifted, and talented youth face because we did as welL.

2. ACADEMY

(6TH - 12TH)

Our Secondary program the Academy (grades 6-12) supports learners needing all levels of instruction, from Remedial to AP and Dual-Enrollment college courses.

Our students come from home schools, private schools, public schools, and boarding schools. Most of our students are above average in intelligence and come from professional families. Some have specific learning differences and some are just looking for a different educational experience. What unifies our students is their wish to achieve their personal best.

What are the school days and hours?

The Academy hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 2:45pm.In general, we follow the Miami-Dade school calendar with only slight differences. We also follow their decision for emergency school closings. Students may arrive on campus up to 30 minutes before school and remain on campus up to 20 minutes after school, except in specific situations of tutoring or after-school events. At the Academy there is no supervision before 8:05am or after 3:05pm.

Both the Academy and Beginnings offer traditional full-school schedules or flexible scheduling, hybrid and distance options with curriculum uniquely designed by our award-winning administration.
